Opening Ceremony

Each Scouts is assigned two Points of the Scout Law depending on how many are present. Each boy, in turn, takes a step forward, salutes, gives his point of the law, and steps back in line.   7:30pm
Skills Instruction

25 minutes

 

 

  • New Scouts ® Basic Knots: Square Knot, Half Hitch, Two-half Hitch, Clove Hitch, Taut-line Hitch, Bowline.
  • Experienced Scouts® Build A-Frame from Troop staves using Square Lashings

Game

15 minutes

Chain Gang ® Patrol lines up in relay formation. At the start, the first Scout ties a Bowline around his right ankle, the next Scout ties a Clove hitch around his ankle, and so on. Patrol then races to a finish line.   8:00pm

Plan Menu and Grocery List for Colonial Park Campout.   8:15pm
Inter-patrol Activity

15 minutes

  • New Scouts ® Timed Knot Tying Relay
  • Experienced Scouts ® A-Frame Relay. Scouts use built A-Frames with guide-ropes to complete a race.

  • Scoutmaster’s Minute
  • Retire Colors ® Troop at attention repeats the Pledge of Allegiance. Flag is retired. MC announces, "May the Great Scoutmaster of all Scouts be with us until we meet again."

  • Basic Knot Tying: Square Knot, Half Hitch, Two-half Hitch, Clove Hitch, Taut-line Hitch, Bowline.

Opening Ceremony

5 minutes

Troop is called to attention. All Scouts repeat the Scout Oath. Afterwards, the MC summarizes the three points in his own words.   7:30pm
Skills Instruction

25 minutes

 

 

  • New Scouts ® Backpacking Session- Properly packing a Backpack, Backpacking Essentials, and What "Not" to bring.
  • Experienced Scouts® Low Impact Camping: Plastic Sink, Stoves/cooking methods, Environment, etc.

Game

15 minutes

British Bulldog ® Troop lines up on side of room. One player is in center. At the start, the Troop charges to the other side without getting "Caught". Whomever gets caught joins the original British Bulldog until only one person remains.   8:00pm
Patrol Meetings

20 minutes

Individuals work with other members in the Patrol to develop agendas for the Colonial Park Round Robin Stations.   8:15pm
Inter-patrol Activity

15 minutes

Backpacking Packing Timed Contest. Three completely packed Backpacks are unloaded. Each Patrol must be the quickest to properly pack the Backpack.

  • Scoutmaster’s Minute
  • Retire Colors ® All Scouts hum "Taps" as one Scouts recites the Scout Oath. The Flag is then retired with the Troop at attention.

Opening Ceremony

In the MC’s own words, have him explain the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance. Then call the Troop to attention and recite the Pledge.   7:30pm
Skills Instruction

25 minutes

 

 

 

 

  • New Scouts ® Dome Tent Pitching

 

  • Experienced Scouts® Pace and Compass. Use the Compass Game to practice pace and bearings.
  7:35pm
Game

15 minutes

Jump the Shot ® Scouts form a wide circle. The leader swings a rope with a monkey’s fist on the end just below the knees of the Scouts who must "Jump the Shot". Getting hit results in elimination until only one Scout remains.   8:00pm
Patrol Meetings

20 minutes

Patrol completes Duty Roster and last minute questions and problems. The Quartermasters pack all Patrol gear needed for the weekend.   8:15pm
Inter-patrol Activity

15 minutes

  • New Scouts ® Timed Tent Pitch
  • Experienced Scouts ® Blindfolded Tent Pitch Contest

Closing

  • Scoutmaster’s Minute
  • Retire Colors ® Form a circle. Have each Scout make the Scout sign and with the left hand, grasp the lifted right writs of his left neighbor. Recite the Oath or Law.

Webelos Colonial Park Weekend

7:30 - 8:00am

Load personal gear at garage and leave for Colonial Park. Arrive at entrance to Colonial Park for Backpack Hike in to the campsite.

 
8:00 - 8:30am

Hike into Camp (Approximately 1 mile)

 
8:30 - 9:30am

Set up patrol sites. Concentrate on stowing gear and setting up camp. Site must resemble a Model Campsite.

 
9:30-10:30am

Round Robin Station Set-up. Each Scout is responsible for all needed station supplies.

 

9:45am

Webelos and Parents arrive for the days activities

 
10:00-10:30am

Webelos visit and tour the Model Campsite

 
10:30-11:15am
